So, there are 7 different internal colours...the painters just loved me! We have the resene colours half tea on all the kitchen, lounge and family walls, tea in the master bedroom and double tea in the foyer plus half black-white in the downstairs bedrooms and all bathrooms, quarter black-white on celings and trims throughout and finally, feature walls in the kid's bedrooms of skye and half lanark which are Heritage Paint's own colours.

Fresh from the tree
Whilst the moral of this story could be that staying in Glen Iris would allow us to enjoy oranges in abundance from the backyard, the moral that I am aiming for is that our tree/chook/seachange will present us with a far greater range of juices (and whole fruit and vegetables) to choose from , albeit in a few years time.

Cabinets are still a go go
Status report:
#1 The family room cupboards (just needs a coat of paint and the window seat around the corner):
#2 The children's study nook (just needs the desktop attached and the shelving put around the window):
#3 The downstairs bathroom (just needs the proper benchtop and to be, you know, attached to the floor):
#4 The laundry (only needs handles!):

Working on a grand entry
The builder and his brother got on the tools and knocked up a temporary prototype entry, which then had to be emailed to me in Glen Iris for approval before steps could be taken to secure more permanently. So this is the unfinished bit of an idea of how you might find your way to the front door.

Cabinets are go
So there's a bit of bulkhead, a few cupboard doors and the stone benchtops still missing but it's starting to look a lot like a kitchen:

The stairs go up (and down)
The timber is recycled Messmate from Timber Zoo, our local (lucky us!) recycled timber supplier.
The stainless steel wire balusters will go in this week. In the meantime we walked up the stairs hugging the wall, some of us more closely than others (hello 7yo risk averse eldest child!)

Terrific tiles
I managed to find one spot of newly laid bathroom floor tiles that had not been covered with plastic. Of course there's no grout yet and there needs to be wall tiles added plus paint and taps, but it was so very exciting to see another finish. We initially wanted 300 x 600 tiles, but faced with a 6-8 week wait for them to arrive on a ship from somewhere, we decided the 300 x 300 would work just fine.

Plastic fantastic
We met our friends this visit to show off the house thus far...but we couldn't see the floor or windows because it was all masked off by the painter who has been spraying onto the ceiling.
The ceilings looked great with their two super smooth coats of Quarter Black White (go figure!?)

A promise of things to come
A tower of tiles...
A drop-saw and some lengths of timber...
Cavity doors in place and in need of a paint...
Add to that a staircase in production and cabinets about ready to install....bring on the next week or two!

Making the most of the sunshine
Thankyou Victoria for the unseasonally mild weather this past week - the exterior paintwork is finished.*
*except for when the painter ran out of paint right near the end, so there is a little patch on the North facade which may be rectified, or may be something we complete right before we sell up and move to a Docklands apartment in twenty years time.
